Some breeders are concerned about being there when their baby arrives. At Mare Meadows, we will monitor your mare 24 hours a day for signs of delivery, assist in the safe delivery and see to the medical needs of mare and foal with our on-call veterinarian.

FOAL-OUT FEE:

$500 plus vet fees and

$22.00 per day mare care wet and $20.00 per day mare care dry.

We will call you as soon as possible upon the birth of your foal.

RECOMMENDED PRE-FOALING PROGRAM - MARE:

Procedures will be performed if mare hasn't had them.

RHINO: 5th,7th, & 9th Month (10.00 each)

FLU: 7th Month ($10.00)

DEWORMING: Frequency and product determined by your veterinarian

PRE-FOALING VACCINATIONS: 2-4 weeks prior to foaling, as follows:

ENDOVAC (Salmonella)

FLU (Influenza)

RHINO

EEE/WEE

TETANUS

STREP

 POST FOALING PROCEDURES - MARE:

Procedures will be performed post foaling.

CASLICKS (if necessary)

FLOAT TEETH

DEWORM

 POST FOALING PROCEDURES - FOAL:

These procedures will be performed on foal.

 PLASMA: ($250.00) It is ONLY used if the veterinarian feels there is a need to - Administration of plasma post-foaling will give your foal a much healthier start in life and provide a greater level of immunity to ward off most neonatal infections. The plasma used at The Mare Meadows Ranch has been prepared to provide antibodies for the most common illnesses your foal may encounter.

 ENEMA and IODINE NAVEL at birth (N/C)

IGG within 24 hours of birth ($30.00)

PENICILLIN and GENTAMICIN 3 days following birth

CBC 7 days from birth ($30.00)

CARE OF OLDER FOALS:

DEWORM w/Eqvalan (ivermectin) - 8 weeks

DEWORM w/ Anthelcide (oxibendazole) - 12 weeks

DEWORM w/ Eqvalan (ivermectin) - 5-6 months

VACCINATE against STREP, VEE, EEE/WEE, TETANUS, INFLUENZA, and

RHINOPNEUMONITIS - 5-6 months

STREP Booster - 2-3 weeks following 5th month

DEWORM w/Quest, VACCINATION BOOSTERS - 2-3 weeks prior to weaning.
