Welcome

GUIDELINES FOR ORDERING SHIPPED SEMEN
Please provide this information to your Veterinarian prior to breeding

Mare Meadows Ranch Personnel are available for your assistance from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Monday-Friday by calling the barn Cell Phone 352-316-1923. Please do NOT order semen from The Mare Meadows Ranch by leaving a message on the answering machine, by email, or by fax. When you order cooled semen  call the cell phone number where you can reach the manager at any time from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.  Please use that number! Please make every effort to order semen by noon the day BEFORE you want it shipped. Shipped semen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with mares on the farm taking first priority. Orders made later than 8:00 A.M. on collection day are at a higher risk of refusal.

Mare Meadows is operating on a routine collection and shipping procedure that you will need to become familiar with to manage your mare properly. This routine will not be altered for individual cases. 2004 collection dates are:

February - Even Numbered Days
March -     Even Numbered Days
April -        Odd Numbered Days
May -        Odd Numbered Days
June -       Even Numbered Days

Do not attempt to utilize cooled transported semen for mares with reproductive problems.

Otherwise, good planning is the key to breeding your mare with transported cooled semen. Mares should be on a regular teasing and ultrasound examination schedule, since timing is of utmost importance. An experienced, competent Mare Management Facility and/or a Veterinarian with extensive cooled transported semen experience should be employed.

Call AHEAD before you actually order semen, and be aware of the following:

We prefer to ship by Federal Express; however, Fed Ex does NOT pick up on Saturday or Sunday at the Ranch. Also, some mares may need same-day service in coordination with ovulation. Airport information is as follows:

A. Gainesville Regional Airport is the airport that we ship from. Airlines will NOT switch the Equitainer to another airline. Orlando Airport services CONTINENTAL, AMERICAN, SOUTHWEST and DELTA. Some offer more flights than others. Don't presume our flight schedules will be the same as those of other breeding farms.
B. Stallions are collected after 9:00 a.m. for early evening departures from Orlando. We do not alter this routine for an individual shipment. Therefore, most of the semen arrivals will be late evening--and some could be very late, depending on your location. If you may need to ship semen by airline, call ahead well in advance to confirm that a flight will be available. We cannot guarantee flight schedules.

• Breeding Fees must be paid prior to ordering semen

$325 Airline Shipment

(Order must be placed prior to 8:00 A.M. on collection day)

$125 Pick up at Mare Meadows Ranch

These fees have been carefully set in accordance with other breeding facilities and cannot be altered. We do not collect an Equitainer deposit. The $250 pre-payment will apply to the shipping fees when the semen is shipped.

Remember: a cooled semen contract does NOT guarantee semen will be available. Mares on the farm get first priority, and each stallion has different limits. Cooled semen requests are handled on first-come first-served basis. Following the above guidelines will offer you the highest rate of success.

RECEIVING SEMEN: A form describing your dose of semen is provided in the Equitainer. Normally, 2 doses will not be available. If the semen arrives in poor condition, we would like to be informed, as we make every effort to send a viable dose for your breeding. Also, please inform us if the Equitainer appears to have been tampered with.

TO RETURN EQUITAINER: Coolant cans and ballast bags should be returned in the Equitainer. You may return the pink copy of the insemination certificate in the Equitainer, but please do place it in the PLASTIC BAG. Mail the white copy to AQHA. Disposable Equitainers (boxes) do not require return. At Mare owner's expense, Overnight to: Mare Meadows Ranch, 2010 SW 17th Terrace,  Bell, Florida   32619     352-463-1337
